The Insider~ March 2002
We do not always realize how much what we do impacts those around us. In this past year I have begun to notice this more and more.
When two students from my school died in September, I saw how many people their lives had affected. They were outgoing and friends to everyone.
It was the same when Joey Mulder died last month. I saw how many people cared about him and how much of an effect he had on those in the youth group and his family.
I was not very close to any of them, but I watched so many of my friends who were. These three have helped many people to understand how much of an effect we have on those around us. I have especially been thinking about how much of that we do for God.
People often ask why these were the ones who died. All of them were so young.
Since they were all so close to my age, it really hit me how quickly our lives can come to an end. How do we really want to be known once we are gone?
Each of them was known for being a good friend, but Joey was also known for his living a Christian life. His family knew him as one to be counted on.
And that is how we should live as Christians. We should remember that everything we do can be what people remember us for.
